The African Centre of Excellence for Genomics of Infectious Diseases (ACEGID), based at Redeemer’s University Nigeria, is driving biomedical innovation at the leading edge of pathogen surveillance, diagnostics, and outbreak response. Established in 2014 by the World Bank African Centres of Excellence (ACE) program and supported by the Human Heredity and Health in Africa (H3Africa) consortium, the ACEGID platform is building genomics pipelines, advancing our understanding of microbial threats, and training the next generation of African scientists.
We are seeking an experienced Full Stack Developer to join our team. The incumbent will be well-versed in secure development and deployment practices and have a strong background in cloud computing. As a Full Stack Developer, you will be responsible for designing, developing, and deploying scalable and secure software applications and dashboards, leveraging cloud technologies such as AWS, Azure, or Google Cloud.
- Design, develop, and deploy full stack applications using modern web technologies (front-end and back-end)
- Implement secure coding practices and vulnerability management to ensure application security
- Utilize cloud services such as serverless computing, containers, and managed databases
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify and prioritize project requirements
- Participate in code reviews and contribute to the improvement of the overall codebase
- Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies
- 5+ years of experience in full stack development (front-end and back-end); Bachelor's degree holders must have 5 years of experience, while those with a Master's degree need 3 years.
- Strong proficiency in programming languages such as Java, JavaScript, Python
- Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and containerization (Docker)
- Knowledge of secure development practices
- Familiarity with DevOps tools (CI/CD, Jenkins, Git)
- At least a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
- Experience with agile development methodologies (Scrum, Kanban)
- Knowledge of cloud security best practices (CIS Benchmarks, NIST 800-53)
- Certification in cloud computing (AWS Certified Developer, Azure Developer Associate)
